Applying BABOK to Real Businesses
A second track alongside technical writing: applying BABOK v3 to real, early-stage companies rather than case-study exercises.
This section covers Business Analysis work I've taken on: stakeholder analysis, process modeling, requirements definition, and risk analysis, applied to actual companies rather than training scenarios. The two disciplines share a common thread. Both are about translating complexity into something clear enough for the right audience to act on, whether that audience is a developer reading documentation or a founder trying to see their own process for the first time.
It's also a natural extension of my interest in AI-driven systems. The case study below is for an AI-powered platform, and the same questions I ask when documenting how an AI system works, who relies on it, what breaks if a step is skipped, where the human checkpoints actually need to sit, turned out to be exactly the questions a business analyst asks when defining how that system should be built and governed in the first place.
This list will grow as more engagements are completed.
Case Studies
Lirafin: Applying BABOK to an Early-Stage Startup, stakeholder analysis, process modeling, requirements classification, and root-cause risk analysis for an early-stage AI-powered fintech platform, broken into four phases:
- Stakeholder Analysis, identifying who has a stake in the business and designing engagement around influence and interest
- Process Modeling, a swimlane diagram, full process specification, and a RACI matrix for the content pipeline
- Risk & Requirements, a Five Whys root-cause analysis, a consolidated risk register, and a formal requirements classification
- User Stories & Use Cases, a SIPOC summary, a MoSCoW-prioritised backlog, an INVEST quality check, and a UML use case diagram
Each page includes the actual artifacts produced, diagrams, registers, and matrices, not just a summary of the approach.
